Dear friends and colleagues,
It's Joe Capiello from Simulation Education Services, and I want to make sure you're aware that on January 1, you'll be faced with a significant overhaul to The Joint Commission's safety standards. Consider these important changes:
- The familiar environment of care chapter will be completely renumbered
- The emergency management requirements, which have already been a problem for many of us in 2008, will move to a new chapter of standards
- EC.5.20 and the Statement of Conditions will become the core of the new life safety chapter
With all of this in mind, the folks at HCPro can help you prepare with a new, exciting seminar, Environment of Care for 2009, which takes place September 5 in Boston. This day-long program will bring safety officers, facility directors, engineers, managers, and others through the extensive changes to The Joint Commission's safety standards.
I've been invited to speak at this conference along with three other respected presenters - you can find the full details and agenda here.
As you can imagine, the next few months will be a confusing period as you brace for 2009, and don't be surprised if your CEO has some thoughts about two brand new chapters in the accreditation manual.
I urge you to register for this seminar if you haven't already. Environment of Care for 2009 will not only give you the latest information and tips about the changing face of The Joint Commission's standards, but also offer a fun opportunity to network with your peers.
Sincerely,
Joe Capiello
President and CEO
